What Concerns Does Hormone Replacement Therapy Address?

A Foundational Approach to Healthy Aging

As we age, our body’s production of key hormones like estrogen and testosterone naturally declines. This imbalance can lead to a wide range of frustrating symptoms that affect your quality of life. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is a medical treatment focused on restoring these hormone levels to their optimal range, helping to alleviate symptoms and improve overall wellness. At Advanced Aesthetics, we specialize in Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) using the Biote® Method, which uses hormones that are structurally identical to those your body produces.

  • Fatigue and lack of energy
  • Weight gain and difficulty losing weight
  • Brain fog and difficulty concentrating
  • Mood swings, anxiety, or depression
  • Low libido and sexual dysfunction
  • Poor sleep
  • Hot flashes and night sweats (in women)

The best part? Our programs are completely customized to your unique physiology for safe and effective results.

What to Expect During Your Hormone Replacement Journey

Personalized, Professional, and Effective

  1. Before Treatment

Your journey begins with a comprehensive consultation and extensive lab work to analyze your current hormone levels and overall health.

Based on your results, we will create a personalized treatment plan. If you are a candidate for the Biote® Method, pellets are inserted subcutaneously in a quick, in-office procedure.

  3. After Treatment

The bioidentical hormones are absorbed by your body over several months, providing a steady, consistent dose. There is no daily medication to remember.

  4. When Will I See Results?

Some patients report feeling improvements within a few weeks, but optimal results are typically felt after the second round of pellet insertions (around 3-6 months).

  5. Additional Benefits

    • Improved mood and mental clarity
    • Increased energy levels and stamina
    • Enhanced libido and sexual performance
    • Easier weight management
    • Better sleep quality

Pre-Care & Aftercare

Simple Steps for Best Results

Your Path to Quick, Optimal Healing

Taking care of yourself after your Biote® pellet insertion is straightforward. Just follow these guidelines to optimize healing:

Pellet Insertion Care Instructions for Women

  • Leave the bandage on for 24 hours, then take a shower, remove the bandage, and wash the wound with soap and water only.
  • Do not apply any lotion, cream, or gels to the wound for 3 days.
  • Avoid vigorous physical activity for 72 hours (about 3 days) following the insertion of the pellets, longer if the area is tender or red.
  • No tub baths, hot tubs, or swimming pools for 3 days.
  • The insertion site may be uncomfortable for up to 2 to 3 weeks. This is normal.
  • If there is itching or redness, you may take Benadryl 25 to 50 mg every 6 hours for relief.
  • For discomfort, you may take over-the-counter strength Tylenol or Motrin as directed on the container.
  • You may experience bruising, swelling, and/or redness of the insertion site, which may last from a few days to 3 weeks. This is normal.
  • You may notice some pinkish or slightly bloody discoloration of the outer bandage. This is normal. If you experience heavy bleeding from the incision site, apply firm pressure to the area for 5 to 10 minutes. If the bleeding does not subside or the dressing becomes completely soaked with blood, contact our office or text Nina's phone for assistance.
  • Contact the office if you notice any extreme or increasing redness, swelling, heat, or pus draining from the incision site. This may indicate an infection that might warrant treatment with antibiotics. Please call (617) 308-2883 during business hours, or text Nina's phone after business hours, if you experience any problems or have concerns about your incision site.

Pellet Insertion Care Instructions for Men

  • Your insertion site has been covered with two layers of bandages. Do not disturb this dressing for 7 days.
  • Apply an ice pack for 20-minute intervals several hours post-procedure to reduce pain, swelling, and inflammation. Position the pack next to the dressing on the outside of the hip. Continue using ice packs for the first couple of days as needed. Avoid placing the pack directly on bare skin.
  • No tub baths, hot tubs, or swimming pools for 7 days. You may shower, but do not scrub the site until the incision is well healed (about 7 days).
  • No major exercises for the incision area for 7 days. This includes running, elliptical, squats, lunges, etc. You can do moderate upper body work and walking.
  • The insertion site may be uncomfortable for up to 2 to 3 weeks. This is normal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Your HRT Questions, Answered

What are bioidentical hormones?

Bioidentical hormones are plant-derived hormones that are molecularly identical to the hormones produced by the human body. This allows them to be recognized and used by the body just like your own hormones.

Is Hormone Replacement Therapy safe?

When prescribed and monitored by a qualified medical provider based on comprehensive lab testing, HRT is a safe and effective treatment for most people. We conduct thorough health screenings to ensure you are a good candidate.

Why are pellets better than creams or injections?

The Biote® Method uses pellets inserted under the skin, which release a steady, consistent dose of hormones 24/7. This avoids the daily hassle and the “roller coaster” effect of hormone levels that can occur with creams or injections.

Does this treat menopause?

Yes, HRT is one of the most effective treatments for alleviating the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause in women, including hot flashes, night sweats, and mood swings.

Is there HRT for men?

Absolutely. Testosterone deficiency is common in men and can lead to fatigue, low libido, and weight gain. Our program for men is designed to restore testosterone levels and reverse these symptoms.

How do I get started?

Your first step is to book a consultation. We will discuss your symptoms and order the necessary lab work to determine if you are a candidate for HRT.
